Following the footprints of the Wayfarer
The “Vie del Viandante” is a historical international route of about 220 km, a network of paths connecting San Bernardino to Milan, through the Mesolcina Valley, Valchiavenna, Lake Como and the Adda River.
They are the communication routes “traced” by wayfarers, traders, smugglers and armies that over the centuries have allowed men and goods to circulate despite the geographical and political borders.
Among the possible itineraries, which you can easily start from La Casa del Sarto in Lecco, there is the so-called Sentiero del Viandante (Wayfarer’s path), a trek in stages that runs along the eastern shore of Lake Como. This itinerary retraces an ancient mule track, offering an alternative route to the lake and the Via Regina towards Valtellina and towards the Spluga, Settimo and Julier Alpine passes.
The Sentiero del Viandante (Wayfarer’s path) has a total length of about 60.5 km and is usually divided into stages that can be travelled in both directions.
